Crisis Specialist

Coleman Health Services is a nationally recognized not-for-profit provider of behavioral health and rehabilitation programs to foster recovery, build independence, and change destinies for individuals, families, and businesses in our community. We are seeking Crisis Specialists for our office in Warren, Ohio. Please note, this is an in-office position, not hybrid or remote.

Schedule: We have openings for full-time 2nd and 3rd shifts

Weekends: Part-time

Salary: $23.00/hour

Duties Include:

  • Complete telephone screening and face to face triage to determine needs and desires of consumers calling/walking into the crisis center.
  • Complete enrollment process for all new clients entering the crisis center for assessment and/or further service delivery.
  • Responsible for enrolling new clients in services, coordinating related processes, promoting efficiency and customer service.
  • Serve as point person for community constituencies in need when more appropriate personnel are not available or identified.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity, empathy, objectivity, professionalism, effective customer service skills, and sound clinical judgment in the course of all work.
  • Gather and document appropriate demographic, fiscal, and clinical information for perspective clients.
  • Determine needed clinical services, level of urgency, and appropriate providers; consult with clinical, fiscal, and other personnel as needed.
  • Provide supportive and/or basic crisis intervention when needed during process of linking new clients to services.
  • Connect persons in significant crisis or need of prescreening to appropriate crisis personnel.
  • Provide all information prospective clients need to make optimal treatment choices.
  • Schedule appointments with appropriate service providers according to clinical needs, urgency, customer preference, third party payor requirements, provider availability, and per CHS policy and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with three years of mental health services experience
  • Knowledge and skill relative to mental illness and related dynamics, psychiatric emergencies and service delivery systems in behavioral health and related fields

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in behavioral health-related field
  • Certification or similar credentials in crisis intervention, de-escalation, or mediation
  • Completion of advanced CIT Training at state or national level.
