Do you have lived experience with mental illness, or a substance use disorder, and are far enough along in your recovery that you are ready to help others who have similar lived experiences. Coleman Health Services has multiple openings for full-time or part-time Peer Support Specialists in Stark County, Ohio.
This position is a role model to peers, exhibiting competency in personal recovery and the use of coping skills, serving as an advocate, and providing information about peer support in outpatient and settings. Peer Support Specialist performs a wide range of tasks to help peers regain independence within the community and ownership over their own recovery process by using a variety of techniques. Peer Specialists provide guidance, hope, and support toward recovery through personal experience and growth and on a reciprocal basis.
Peer Support Requirements:
· High school diploma;
· Completed state peer support training or willingness to complete such training;
· Lived experience in mental illness or substance use;
· Have and maintain acceptable driving record; and
· Able to cope with mental and emotional stress related to work with persons who are experiencing mental health concerns and crisis
