I Promise Health Quarters Therapist

Coleman Health Services, a nationally recognized not-for-profit provider of behavioral health and rehabilitation programs, is seeking a social work and/or counseling professional to provide assessment and therapeutic interventions in various community settings while building meaningful community connections along-side partners including the LeBron James Family Foundation, Peg's Foundation, Akron Public School and AxessPointe Community Health Centers. This position is located in Akron, Ohio, working Monday-Friday day shift with the expectation of assisting with events in the evening/weekends occasionally.

What are we looking for from you?

  • Dedicated counseling for youth, adults, and families seeking a variety of needs.
  • Provide community-based services at the convenience of the client/family at I Promise School, Village, Housing, and I Promise HealthQuarters.
  • Provide holistic assessment and culturally competent, trauma-informed counseling services for youth, adults, and family members.
  • Facilitate and support therapeutic groups, skill-building workshops, psychoeducation, and community engagement opportunities for diverse populations across the lifespan.
  • Participate in community outreach efforts, prevention initiatives, and wellness programming designed to increase access, awareness, and connection within the community.
  • Connect individuals and families to ongoing services to meet additional needs.
  • Work collaboratively with other counselors/social workers, case managers, peer support specialists, and the Director to provide prevention, sustainability, and trauma reduction for youth, adults, families members and the broader community.
  • Become a part of a valued service line for the lifespan as we increase awareness and bring hope to Summit County Youth and their families.
  • Be a member of a program striving for National Recognition, with a strong emphasis on cultural humility, trauma-informed care, integrated healthcare, and authentic community engagement.

The Summit County Coleman Team is seeking a new Counselor/Therapist for The I Promise HealthQuarters, which is working to become a replicable model of integrated healthcare specifically designed to provide the best outcomes for youth, families, and the community in Akron. The core components of this model are intentional staffing, cultural humility, trauma-informed engagement, community collaboration, and truly integrated healthcare that pulls from lived experience and social determinants of health.

What qualifications will you need to be a successful Counselor (I Promise HealthQuarters)?

  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, or a related field
  • Licensed Social Worker (LSW/LISW/LISW-S) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC/LPCC/LPCC-S) licensure
  • Have and maintain an excellent driving record
  • 2 years' experience working in the behavioral healthcare field
  • Eligible or has an NPI number and an Ohio Medicaid number
  • A passion for community engagement and a desire to meet individuals and families where they are through flexible, innovative, and relationship-centered care

Preference given to the following candidates:

  • Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) licensure
  • Work experience with youth and families in community behavioral health, school-based settings, or crisis intervention settings
  • Experience facilitating groups, workshops, community-based programming, and outreach initiatives with diverse populations
  • Experience in motivational interviewing, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care, community-based services
